Ducker Worldwide in the News: Hospitals struggle to stay independent

Southeast Michigan's half-dozen freestanding hospitals are fighting an uphill battle to remain independent in the face of intensified competition, projected government funding cuts and an industry trend toward consolidation with major health systems.
Hospitals, including Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, Crittenton Hospital Medical Center in Rochester and Garden City Hospital in Metro Detroit, plus Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe, Port Huron Hospital and Allegiance Health in Jackson have been meeting for more than a year and a half, focusing on strategies to maintain independence.
